Spring is in the air, and along with spring comes the Furry Scurry! Fetch your sneakers and your furry friend for the 2008 Furry Scurry, presented by Hill’s Science Diet and King Soopers, on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 9 a.m. This two-mile walk and fun run in Denver’s Washington Park is our largest fund raiser to help the more than 25,000 animals that are expected to enter our shelters this year. Registration for the big event is $50 per person and includes a limited-edition Furry Scurry logo T-shirt. You can also qualify for many exciting incentive prizes by raising pledges. The more pledges raised, the more valuable the prizes and the more you help the animals. If you haven’t already, register online and create your own Web page with a picture of your pets, send e-mails to your friends, family and colleagues, and collect pledges online. Following the walk, you may enjoy free refreshments and watch doggie contests and demonstrations. You may also visit our “flealess” market featuring dozens of vendor booths selling pet-related items. Don’t miss this dog-gone good time for pets and people! |
March Mammal Madness What’s all the hoopla? It’s about hamsters, gerbils, rabbits and other small pets! To increase awareness of small mammals as family pets, join us for March Mammal Madness on Saturday, March 15, from 10:30 a.m. 5 p.m., at both shelters 2080 S. Quebec St. in Denver and the Buddy Center, 4556 Castleton Court in Castle Rock. Kids can bring their own small pet and enjoy guinea pig and hamster races, rat relays, face painting, crafts and much more! Admission is free. Event T-shirts will be given to small-pet adopters at the Dumb Friends League. For those on the West side of Denver, Table Mountain Animal Center will also be hosting their own version March Mammal Madness. |
